Why Use a Pool Cover Roller System?

Pool covers are a worthwhile investment. They keep heat in your water and debris out of it. While some pool owners simply opt for a regular cover that they manually place on and off the water, others use a roller system.

This kind of system spools a cover onto a roller that usually sits at the end or side of the pool. You pull the cover out to use it. You then turn the roller's handle to retract it back onto its spool again. While some systems are manual, you can also buy automated options.

What are the advantages of installing a pool cover roller system?

Cover and uncover your pool faster

Putting a cover on and taking one off your pool takes time. You have to unfold the cover and get it flat to put it on. You might need some time to get it in exactly the right position. When you take the cover off, you have to be careful not to get it too wet.

This process can be a bit of a chore. Even though you know you should use the cover to keep your water in good shape, you might not put it on as often as you should. You might not want to waste the time.

Even if you use a manual roller system, you'll speed up this process. The roller sits in exactly the right place to position the cover over the water, so you don't have to direct where it goes. You simply pull the cover over the pool to put it down. When you want to use the pool, you wind the cover back onto the roller again.

You'll find that the process to get the cover down and up is a lot easier and quicker. You're much more likely to use the pool covers consistently if they make life easy for you, so your water will stay warmer and cleaner.

Keep your cover in better shape

Pool covers only work effectively if you keep them in good condition. If a cover tears or breaks, then it can't do its job. You also need to take care to keep your cover in a sanitary state so that it is healthy to have on your water.

If you use a regular pool cover, then you might accidentally damage it when you use it. For example, if you drag the cover off too hard, it might break if it catches on the side of the pool. If you leave it on the ground by the side of the pool when you aren't using it, then stones or rough ground might damage it.

Plus, if you don't take care to dry off your cover when you remove it, then it will stay damp when you fold it and put it away. It might get mouldy or harbour harmful bacteria.

If you use a roller system, then you can easily stow your cover away safely when you aren't using it. You shouldn't accidentally damage it when you roll it up as the system does all the work. Plus, the spooling action pushes any water off the cover. It then sits off the ground and gets a chance to dry off if it is still wet.

Enjoy an easy pool cover storage option

You have to find somewhere to store a regular pool cover when you aren't using it. While you might be happy to leave it at the side of the pool some of the time when you use your pool every day, this doesn't protect the cover. You might step on it, or it could get dirty from being on the ground.

A roller system is a good solution. When you aren't using the cover, it sits securely on its spool at an end of the pool. You don't need to find space for it because it already has a home.
